AutoCAD Training

NEW FILE ->    When we start AutoCAD for the first time, we have a “START UP” dialog box on the screen, wherein we have 3 options for staring a new fileà
1)                Start from scratch
2)                Use a template
3)                Use a Wizard
We have these three options in the “CREAT NEW DRAWING” dialog box also when we use the “NEW” COMMAND.
We use the option “USE A TEMPLATE” and click on the ACADISO.DWT file to start a new file.

DEFAULT SETTINGS FOR AN ACADISO. DWT FILEà

For lengthà
Unit is Decimal (mm)
Precision=0.0000
For Angleà
Unit is decimal degree
Positive direction for Angle Calculation is Anti clock wise
And the 0direction is towards the East.
In order to change any of the above mentioned settings, we click on the FORMAT menu and choose the command, UNITS or type UN at the command prompt. The drawing units dialog box appears on the screen and we can change the required changes.

When this value is 0 (OFF)., the menu bar will not be available on the AutoCAD Screen.

The position of the toolbars are NOT fixed, it can be dragged and dropped anywhere on the screen. We can cross off the toolbars which are NOT required on the Screen and to bring back the toolbars on to the screen again, we place the cursor on top of any of the icons and right click to get the list of the toolbars. Selecting any of the toolbars, we can have that toolbar on the screen.

The ‘dwg’ extension is automatically attached to the file name.

METHODS OF DRAWING OBJECTS OBJECTS IN AUTOCAD
Using the left click of the mouse we pick points on the screen and make the drawing .
Using relative co-ordinate system à in this method we define the first point by picking with the mouse and we get the next point with respect to the previous point using the formula @X,Y
Using polar relatives co-ordinate system à this is similar to the previous method except that we use the formula @distance<angle, for eg., @ 100<45
using DIRECT DISTANCE ENTRY method à in this method also we define the first point by picking with the mouse and we get the next point with respect to the previous point in the direction of the cursor. For defining points at 900s we switch on ORTHO and for defining points at any other angels we switch on POLAR or DYN (DYNAMIC INPUT)
BLIPMODE à This is a system variable , which when switched on , gives imaginary blip marks at each and each every points we pick on the screen. By using the pan or zoom , we can remove these marks .
